The Dartmouth Kitchen
The Brief
The brief was to create a bespoke kitchen that would flow with the high-end design of their South Devon home while working hard to support their busy lifestyle.
The client wanted to include a touch of industrial style to reflect their love of heavy industrial finishes while adding details that would bring back memories of their travels across Indonesia and South Africa.
The Process
We designed a kitchen combining raw dark colours with warm natural materials that together would wear sympathetically over time, creating an industrial worn patina. We added hidden storage to allow the kitchen to work hard for everyday life without detracting from the beauty and design.
Our team created the kitchen by hand in our workshop and hand-fitted it seamlessly within the existing space, taking care of every detail along the way. We added reclaimed oak cladding to the interior walls of the kitchen, weathered perfectly to compliment the concrete worktops while harking back to the clients’ favourite bars and haunts from their travels.
The Result
The combination of raw concrete, the rich dark exterior of the cabinetry, and reclaimed wood create striking contrast and beauty. Individual bespoke details such as the aged antique oak of the handles and dovetailed drawers, and the bronze legs on the cantilevered kitchen island create something truly unique.
